Environmental Science

Are you interested in the environment? Does the prospect of a meaningful career appeal to you? Would you like to make a difference in our world? Then the B.S. in Geography (Environmental Science Emphasis) may be for you.

This is a broad-based program designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in a variety of environmental fields. Graduates typically work for: parks (as rangers or managers), state environmental agencies (such as the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection), environmental consulting firms, water treatment plants, sewage enforcement agencies, engineering firms, county soil and agricultural agencies, solid and hazardous waste firms, and recycling agencies. Many also pursue advanced degrees in graduate school.

This program emphasizes the acquisition of practical skills and knowledge. Studies in map and air photo interpretation, meteorology, hydrology, environmental issues, and computer applications are all stressed. Moreover, the requirements are designed to encourage a minor in Geology or Biology both of which are important and related disciplines. An internship is also recommened.

If this program appeals to you, and if you are willing to work hard to accomplish your goals, then WE are interested in YOU. For further information contact Dr. Russ Dodson at rdodson@mansfield.edu.
