The Department of Geosciences at Mansfield University is a dynamic and growing program, hosting around 175 undergraduate student majors in eight different academic concentrations. The department also hosts the Institute of Science and the Environment at Mansfield University, an independent research institute and outreach organization focused on environmental issues.
We strive to
engage students with a curriculum that is both intellectually challenging and
practically applicable, building student skills relevant to a variety of environmental professions. MU Geosciences students often collaborate with
faculty in hands-on research; a number of our students have presented their
work at regional and national conferences, and many continue their studies at
the graduate level. Students and faculty also publish their continuing work on MUEarthLab, a research blog produced by the department.
MU Geosciences offers five
major concentrations under the BS in Geosciences, plus a BS in Safety
Management, an AAS in Natural Gas Production and several minors that
make excellent additions to a number of MU undergraduate programs.
